Staedtler Chinagraph Pencils are waterproof, permanent pencils that are used on many different surfaces and are especially popular for their ability to write on glossy surfaces like glass, metal and plastics - surfaces usually too slippery for pencil.
Although water (eg rain) wont remove the pencilwork, solvent cleaner on a rag will easily wipe it off.
The pigments are opaque so your lighter colours can be used on dark coloured backgrounds. Nurseries often price-mark the black plastic pots with the white Chinagraphs. Marking x-rays is another unique use. Stone and leather workers often use white for marking the stitching and cutting lines. And, being a pencil there is no drying time. Chinagraph Pencils are also used under water and in engineering, geology and the automotive industry.
